After Christmas Sales in Roscoe Village

Shoppers will find a dozen different sales in the shops of Roscoe Village this week.  Here are some of the highlights.

The Garden Gate
The Garden Gate is closing for the winter on December 31st.  All merchandise is reduced for complete store clearance by year’s end.  On the final day of the clearance sale, December 31st, The Garden Gate will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Find The Garden Gate here. 

Liberty House Boutique & Pottery
Liberty House is previewing its annual New Year’s Day 50% off sale on January first.  All in-stock merchandise is reduced 40% through December 31st.  On New Year’s Day everything in the store is half price  — for 4 hours only  — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Find Liberty House here.

Canal Cargo Store
Canal Cargo is open on New Year’s Day from 10-2 for a special sale with select merchandise reduced 25% – 50%.  Find Canal Cargo here.

Timbuktu Home Store
Timbuktu will be open New Year’s Day from 10-2 with 50% off holiday home accessories and special discounts on case goods, upholstery, area rugs, clocks, lighting and framed art work.  Find Timbuktu here.

Clary Gardens going online

Roscoe Village’s best neighbor, Clary Gardens, is developing a new web presence to showcase the public  gardens, woodland preserve and ongoing sustainable gardening practices on the property.  

Clary Gardens is a regional treasure and the new website will allow you to sample some of its beauty and serenity online while you plan your next trip to Roscoe Village.

Christmas Week in Roscoe Village

Old Warehouse restaurant sold

The Olde Warehouse Restaurant & Lock 27 Tavern in Roscoe Village has been sold to a very successful restaurant group based in Zanesville, Ohio.

The new owners expect to continue normal restaurant operations through the end of the year. A grand opening is planned in early 2009 to introduce a new look, a new menu and a new name:

We are very pleased to welcome the new owners and wish them luck in what is sure to be a successful endeavor. We look forward to seeing this restaurant thrive in Roscoe Village.

Liberty House going online

The Liberty House boutique at 416 N. Whitewoman Street in Roscoe Village is developing a new website to cater to regular shoppers and attract new visitors to the village.

Liberty House joins River Ridge Leather Company in a new online effort to promote Roscoe Village as one of the most unique shopping, dining and travel destinations in the entire Midwest.

“Simply put, Roscoe Village is a gem and we don’t intend to keep it a secret any longer,” said Liberty House proprietor Becky Lowe. 

“Roscoe Village is a wonderful shopping destination and a truly enjoyable experience all year long, with charming shops and unique attractions in a beautiful setting unlike any other place in the country.  We welcomed a terrific crowd to our Candle Lighting Ceremony last weekend and several million more people in Cleveland, Columbus and Pittsburgh live within a two-hour drive of our village.  We intend to redouble our efforts to invite them to the Village all twelve months of the year.”

“We’re going to kick off the new year with our annual New Year’s Day Sale, when everything in our store is 50% off.  Then we’ll work diligently to launch our new website in time for Valentine’s Day and early spring shoppers,” Lowe continued.

Climb aboard for Candle Lighting

This is the horse-drawn surrey parked outside Dennis Knight’s River Ridge Leather Shop in Roscoe Village. 

Visitors can take an old-fashioned surrey ride along Whitewoman street from 1:00 – 4:00 in the afternoon during our annual Christmas Candle Lighting Festivals in Historic Roscoe Village.

Christmas Candle Lighting in Roscoe Village is a beautiful ceremony the whole family will enjoy.  It is by far the most charming event throughout the year in Roscoe Village.  The video to the right shows just a glimpse of why so many people love it.  

The date of the next (and last) Roscoe Village Christmas Candle Lighting Festival of the year is Saturday December 20th.  Don’t miss it.

Roscoe Village Candle Lighting this Saturday, Dec. 20th

The final Roscoe Village Candle Lighting Ceremony of the year is this Saturday, December 20th.  

Join us for Christmas festivities all day long with Santa Claus arriving at noon and horse-drawn surrey rides throughout the village from 1:00 – 4:00.  All are invited to enjoy an authentic old-fashioned Christmas with hot mulled cider and cookies, and caroling throughout the village all evening. 

The Candle Lighting Ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m.  Please view the video at the right to watch the candle light grow as a crowd of 500 sings Silent Night.

Dining in Roscoe Village

Roscoe Village features two excellent dining establishments we recommend for visitors to the Candle Lighting Festival.   

Our newest restaurant, Uncorked in Roscoe Village, features fine wines and gourmet coffee and earns  rave reviews from both locals and tourists.  The atmosphere is lively and fun with weekly entertainment and specials. 

The Warehouse Steak n’ Stein Restaurant is a Roscoe Village landmark, well known for serving both great casual dining fare.  It is actually two restaurants in one location, with separate menu offerings.  Dine in Captain Nye’s Lock 27 Tavern downstairs or the Warehouse Steak n’ Stein restaurant at street level.  Both menus feature good food with table-side service.

Shopping in Roscoe Village

Roscoe Village is home to a dozen charming shops to visit during the Candle Lighting Festival.  

The final Candle Lighting Ceremony in Historic Roscoe Village will be held on Saturday December 20th.  All shops will be open until at least 8:00 p.m. for the festival.
