The Steak & Stein moves to Historic Roscoe Village

Roscoe Village is the new home of one of Ohio’s most beloved restaurants.
The venerated Steak & Stein Restaurant in nearby Zanesville has relocated to the Old Warehouse building on North Whitewoman Street in Historic Roscoe Village, Ohio.
Two Zanesville restaurateurs purchased the Old Warehouse building in December and have begun converting this storied Roscoe Village landmark into an exciting new dining and entertainment venue.
The new restaurant will feature a fresh new menu of great food and drink, an authentic 1830s Ohio Canal theme and a new name: The Old Warehouse Steak & Stein.
Improvements are already underway in Captain Nye’s Lock 27 Tavern, beginning with more comfortable seating and new entertainment. The new owners are preparing to introduce a completely new menu of great food and drink in late January. Meanwhile the Old Warehouse restaurant is open every day while minor improvements are completed.

Let it snow, let it snow

The first real snowfall of winter is arriving in Roscoe Village, covering Whitewoman Street, the Towpath Trail and the Woodlands at Clary Gardens and transforming our local vineyards into stunning winterscapes.
Roscoe Village is beautiful in winter, draped in a thick white blanket that enhances the charm of this authentically restored 18th-century Ohio Canal Town.
Unlike the nearby Basket Village in Dresden, Roscoe Village shops are open all year long. Our streets and sidewalks are cleared swept by 10:00 a.m. every day. And when the shops and restaurants in Ohio’s Amish Country close to tourists on Sunday, Roscoe Village welcomes all visitors.
Our nextdoor neighbors Lake Park and Clary Gardens have rolling hills for sledding and are open to the public every day. A walk down the Towpath Trail is one of Roscoe Village’s best adventures and is especially glorious in wintertime, with stunning cascades of icicles and mountains of snow drifts.
And when it’s time to get warm again, Uncorked and The Olde Warehouse serve hot chocolate all day and night.
Pizza returns to Roscoe Village

In a town famous for pizza shops on almost every corner, we’ve always found it unfortunate that visitors to Roscoe Village had to pile back into their cars and drive across the bridge for a good slice of America’s favorite food. That is, until now.
We are pleased to announce that pizza is back in Roscoe Village, thanks to Uncorked Wine & Coffee Shop.
New for 2009, Uncorked serves authentic American pizza at your table with a wide array of toppings. While inside, you can choose from a selection of soft drinks and juice, 30 import and domestic beers and dozens of wines by the glass or bottle.
Some of our favorite pairings include:
- Pepperoni & Pepsi
- Peperoncini & Pinot Noir
- Mushrooms & Merlot
- Sausage & Sauvignon Blanc
- Red Peppers & Red Stripe
- Jalapenos & Heineken

News from The Garden Gate

Every New Year’s Day, when our flowering plants fall asleep under a blanket of snow and the birds fly south for the winter, the Garden Gate closes for hibernation.
This year while Nature rests, we’ll be hard at work moving the Garden Gate store into new digs in Roscoe Village. The new address will be 403 N. Whitewoman Street.
We’ve planned some very exciting new things for 2009, and when you pass through the Garden Gate this spring, you’ll enter a whole new world of hands-on gardening and crafts and much more personal interaction with Mother Nature.
We really can’t wait until we return to show you the best new store in Roscoe Village. So stay tuned to HistoricRoscoeVillage.com for updates on our progress.
Remember, The Garden Gate re-opens on April 1st. Enjoy the journey until we see you again!
