The Old Warehouse restaurant has reopened in Roscoe Village with a new name:  The Warehouse Steak-n-Stein.

Along with a new name, diners will find the restaurant sporting a new look in both the dining room and the Lock 27 Tavern.  The Steak-n-Stein’s main dining room has been re-decorated with original artwork and an historic Ohio & Erie Canal theme.  Captain Nye’s new Lock 27 Tavern features a new custom-built bar, giant flat screen TVs and more comfortable seating.

Both the Warehouse Steak-n-Stein restaurant and the Lock 27 Tavern have completely new menus of great food.  You can view them online here.

I’m a little disappointed in the new menu. The Lock was one of my favorite places to go for dinner with friends. I don’t understand why an entirely new menu was needed. If I wanted Steak N Stein food, I’d go to Zanesville. The onion rings were great, probably the best part of the meal…but the wings were plain and not very meaty, the chicken tenders were dry and I was disappointed they took a lot of great stuff off the menu (No Beer Cheese Soup?!). Overall, I really don’t feel the food was worth the price we paid. Too bad….

    Hi Carrie,

Thanks for reading HistoricRoscoeVillage.com. Your input is important to other Roscoe Village visitors, both local and traveling from afar. We’re glad you took the time to share your opinions.

Many visitors share your love of Lock 27 as their favorite place for casual dining with friends. We receive many comments in e-mail and in person about the new restaurant operation and you did the right thing by sharing yours online.

We contacted the new owners about your comments so that others can fairly evaulate this restaurant before and during their visits. You are welcome back there anytime to try some of the new things from their menu.

While many new items have been introduced with the new menu, it seems that the chicken wings and chicken fingers they offer are identical to those on the old menu. And, we’re told, prepared with the same recipes with ingredients purchased from the same suppliers.

The Steak-n-Stein in Zanesville was for generations one of the most beloved family restaurants in all of eastern Ohio. But, times change and even Zanesville changes along with them. The Steak-n-Stein closed several months ago and the site is being redeveloped for other uses.

One item brought directly from the old Steak-n-Stein to the new menu in Roscoe Village is the onion rings. We aren’t surprised that you found them great. Stein Style Onion Rings are as famous throughout the region as the old Steak-n-Stein restaurant itself was. It’s a nice thing that Roscoe Village is the one place people can still find and enjoy them.

You can view the entire menus for both The Warehouse Steak-n-Stein and P.R. Nye’s Lock 27 Tavern online here at HistoricRoscoeVillage.com. Simply click “home” from this page and return to the front page where you can’t miss it. The owners welcome you back to try something new from the new menus.

Thanks again for reading HistoricRoscoeVillage.com. We hope to see you in the Village again soon.
