Vote for new shopping hours in Roscoe Village

With its charming cluster of 13 unique shops and two bustling restaurants, we often say that Roscoe Village is a shopping and dining destination unlike any other place in Ohio.

But sometimes when we say “unlike any other place” people tell us:

“You’re right.  It closes at 6 o’clock — unlike any other place we can shop.”

And you know what?   They are exactly right.

With the exceptions of just

no other Roscoe Village shop stays open for very long past 6:00 p.m — even on weekdays.

Does this make sense to you?

After all, most people who work do so until at least 5 o’clock during the week — don’t they?

So we’d like to know what you think.   Should the shops stay open past 6 o’clock for shoppers?

Please answer the quick visitor poll below and tell us what you think.

Find all 4 “Hidden Shops” in Roscoe Village

As every frequent visitor to this website knows, Roscoe Village now features 13 unique and unusual shops located along North Whitewoman Street in our historic 19th-century canal era town.

But did you know that almost half of our visitors completely miss at least 4 of the most unusual shops in Roscoe Village when they visit us?

As the top online guide to shopping in Roscoe Village, HistoricRoscoeVillage.com is here to help.  Take a look at the short features below, for a handy guide to quickly finding and enjoying ALL the great shopping you’re missing — even when you think you’ve seen it all in Roscoe Village.

1.  Wildwood Music Shop | 672 North Whitewoman Street | (740) 622-4224
Situated alongside the Canal Basin, near the site of the historic Triple Locks structure, Wildwood Music Shop is an internationally renowned music store that barely needs any kind of introduction.

This remarkable shop stocks more than 400 one-of-a-kind stringed instruments (like handmade guitars and dulcimers) and draws visitors to the village from all across the United States.

On the subject of dulcimers, the owners of the Wildwood Music (along with our good friends at VisitCoshocton.com) were primarily responsible for saving the world-famous Dulcimer Days Festival that once drew thousands of visitors to Roscoe Village every summer.

Wildwood Music Shop is open every Wednesday through Saturday from noon until at least 5:00 p.m.

But you can visit Wildwood Music online anytime at WildwoodMusic.com

2.  The Wine Maker’s Cellar | secret lower level | 440 North Whitewoman Street | (740) 622-2383
The Wine Maker’s Cellar is hidden away in the lower (cellar) level inside the very girlie Canal Cargo Shop, with its amazing selection Very Bradley bags and softly scented candles.

But every man bold enough to slip away from his keeper and sneak down the back stairway uncovers a secret “man cave” strewn with glorious manly treasures like beer making kits and complete setups for making 20 different kinds of homemade wine.

We don’t want to give away much more about this terrific man shop in Roscoe Village, for fear that it might cast undue suspicion on all the sly men who glady say “sure” when invited to visit the Canal Gargo shop.  Just take a look down there the next time you’re inside and you will not be disappointed.

3.  Knob Hill Designs | 403 REAR North Whitewoman Street | (740) 502-9760
Located upstairs from the new Medbery Marketplace, with its entrance behind the building, Knob Hill Designs is most accessible from Hill Street.  But you can also enter Knob Hill from the sandstone-walled garden inside The Garden Gate Shop.   Just look for the big iron gate on Whitewoman Street,

Interior designer Daphne France has created an amazing display of exquisite decor for the fine home and a one-of-kind showroom for high-quality, contemporary custom Amish furniture by PENWOOD directly from Ohio’s Amish country.

4.  The Village Pantry | 350 North Whitewoman Street (740) 575-4049
Temporarily located at the “canal level” beneath the general store, the Village Pantry Shop is chock-full of gourmet cooking items and utensils that will thrill the most exuberant gourmet (or gourmand) in your family.

Yes, we did say ”temporarily located at the canal level.”   Due to the smashing success of its July 3rd grand opening celebration, the Village Pantry will soon relocate to a much more visible and accessible address on street level on North Whitewoman Street.

As always, you’ll read about the relocation of this great new Roscoe Village shop here first!

We hope you’ve enjoyed discovering each of these formerly “hidden shops” in Roscoe Village.  We are currently updating this page with fresh new photos of each shop.  Please visit us again very soon.
