Roscoe Village retail/office suite available

It’s Spring 2009 and, 40 years since the restoration, Roscoe Village shoppers are still begging for a shoe store.

This newly available site at 381 Hill Street in Roscoe Village is ideal for such a shop.

381 Hill Street is uniquely positioned with great exposure to the main Roscoe Village intersection of North Whitewoman and Hill Street.

Once the location of the Roscoe Village Foundation’s administrative offices, this property is situated between two Roscoe Village landmarks:  the William Roscoe Building and the Apple Butter Inn.

As if it needed anything else to recommended it, this property is one of only two Roscoe Village retail locations with its own dedicated parking area for customers.  This feature alone will delight your customers — especially during the annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival and Christmas Candle Lighting Ceremony.

For more information please contact the Roscoe Village Foundation at (740) 622-9310

How to make Irish Soda Bread. A recipe from the Abberley House Irish Bed & Breakfast

March 2, 2009 by Sam

Soda Bread was a staple in the daily diet of the thousands of immigrant Irish laborers who built the Ohio & Erie Canal that once passed through Historic Roscoe Village.

But Irish Soda Bread isn’t an Irish creation.  It’s a purely Irish-American treat.

Irish Soda Bread is made with baking soda as a leavening agent.  Irish immigrants found the process in wide use in 1830s America and sent it back to relatives in Ireland where the harsh climate hindered the growth of traditional baker’s yeast.

Irish Soda Bread is only one of the many elements of a strong Irish-American heritage in Roscoe Village Ohio.  The contributions and heritage of the Irish people in 19th-century Ohio are preserved and honored at the Abberley House Irish Bed & Breakfast in nearby Coshocton County.

With St. Patrick’s Day only two weeks away we are pleased to treat you to a sample of our local history with this authentic recipe for Irish Soda Bread, provided to us by innkeepers Heather and Aaron Greenwood.

The Abberley House Irish Bed & Breakfast Inn serves fresh loaves of Irish Soda Bread every morning and ranks at the top of our list of the best places to stay on your next trip to Roscoe Village.  Click here to read what other guests have to say about Abberley House at TripAdvisor.com.
